MOOSE
Moose Talk:

The moose has sounds for four basic emotions.

1. Anger:
a loud guttural r-r-r-a-a-a-h, or a snort (Both sexes use the calls to warn off other moose.) This call is rarely heard in the wild by humans, so Dr. Crichton didn't catch it on tape.
2. Love: A lovesick cow moans to attract males. When in pursuit of females a bull grunts and by opens and closes his mouth (it sounds like clapping with wet hands.

Call 1: Cow Moose Moan with Bull Grunting.
Call 2: Cow Moose Moan Alone.
Call 3: Bull Moose Grunt.
Call 4: Cow Moan and Bull Opening/Closing his Mouth.

3. Fear: When scared, a calf makes a distress call (like a deer's bleat).
4. Loneliness: A lonely moose will use a seeking call that sounds like a whine.

Call 5: Calf bleating with Cow Whining

Sources: These sounds were from Outdoor Life's November '99 Gamefile - Canada Moose. The moose calls were collected by Dr. Vince Crichton in the Canadian wilderness and are on his CD-ROM, "Moose Music."
