Moose Talk: |
|

|

The moose has sounds for four basic emotions.
Anger: a loud guttural r-r-r-a-a-a-h, or a snort (Both sexes use the
calls to warn off other moose.) This call is rarely heard in the wild
by humans, so Dr. Crichton din't catch it on tape.
Love: A lovesick cow moansto attract males. When in pursuit of
females a bull grunts and by opens and closes his mouth (it sounds like
clapping with wet hands.

Fear: When scared, a calf
makes a distress call (like a deer's bleat).
Loneliness: A lonely moose will use a seeking call that sounds
like a whine.
